Thin Golf Shots

Thin Golf Shots
There is a popular misconception about the cause of thin golf shots. Many players attribute the thin golf shot to lifting their head at various points during the swing. Raising the head is not the usual cause of thin golf shots. The real cause is that the club is no longer approaching the ball on a downward angle as it strikes the ball. During the thin shot the club actually begins to approach the ball on a slight upward angle.
Hitting the ball with a downward angle of approach is the solution to the problem of hitting thin golf shots. To accomplish this it is mandatory to avoid pushing at the ball with your wrists early in the forward swing. An even better positive solution is to feel like you are using the rotation of your torso and pelvis to deliver the club to the ball. Let both your wrists and your arms be passive as your torso and pelvis rotate forward. This type of motion encourages a downward angle of approach. It is the fix for thin golf shots.
