Green Side Downhill Shots

Green side downhill shots are challenging. Here is an easy reliable way to hit the green side downhill shot.

Select a hybrid club or fairway wood. Choke down on the club. Address the ball back in your stance to accommodate the downhill lie. Please view our previous video on downhill lies to learn how far back in your stance to position the ball. Position your hands slightly ahead of the ball at address. Your weight should be on your target side foot. To strike the ball use your putting stroke. The hybrid club or fairway wood will effectively get the ball rolling down the hill and out onto the green. With just a little practice you can get a feel for controlling distance. Beware however this technique will not work well out of long rough. In a later video we’ll address the green side downhill shot out of long rough.

You can learn this shot and many others by attending a Palm Springs Golf School or Las Vegas Golf School with Dave or Mike Cahill.
