Fully Turn Hips for Longer Golf Shots

Hi, Dave Cahill on the beautiful 4th hole at the Loggers Trail Golf Course in Stillwater, MN. Today I will talk about how to turn with the hips fully. Why? Because if the hips turn fully the golf shot will have more power – greater distance.
To get a full hip turn there are three important points. First, when the torso turns, the hip turns along with it. Do not slide the hips to the right* (*right handed golfers) rather “turn” the hip with the torso. Secondly when you make that turn, the weight is on the inside and squarely on top of the inside of your right or back foot. The final point, when the hips turn and are balanced over the right foot, the right knee starts to straighten. The right knee does not straighten to the point where it is locked or hyper-extended. Your hips will turn as fully as possible when you follow the fore mentioned three steps.
