Maintain Angles of Wrist and Forearms for Solid Shots

Hi Dave Cahill here with Cahill Golf in beautiful Palm Springs, California. Today I am going to talk about how to create solid, accurate and in-fact longer shots during your full swing by maintaining the angles of wrist and forearms.
All we need to do is get the club into position at the top and then notice of our hand position. Take note of the angle of your hand/wrist position, both the vertical angle as you move the hand up and down and the horizontal position as the hands would move side to side. [The position at the top of your swing must be maintained, move the hand angle neither side to side, nor bend the hand angle vertically, up and down which would result in releasing the wrist early. (See photo for my hand angle and position at the top, your position may vary slightly.)]

This photo shows my hand angle and position at the top. Maintain this angle into impact.

We hold this hand wrist position and maintain angle into impact. We do not try to bend the wrist on the way down or push it at the ball. So, we have our position at the top; now just make a nice little lateral momentum motion. Arms come down and now we are going to turn both our hips and our shoulders into the shot while the hands maintain angle into impact. At the bottom of the swing centrifugal force will grab onto club and the wrist position will unhinge. (Jack Nicklaus describes it as “My hands merely went along for the ride.”) Remember; just keep everything in place, rotating hips and shoulders into the shot.
